Carports
Single and double, attached or freestanding, on a slab you already have or one we pour. Engineering and certification included in the price.
What it costs
| Carport | Price (inc GST) | What that covers |
|---|---|---|
| Double carport on an existing slab | from $16,100 | Footings, posts, beams and roof, plus engineering and Form 15, certifier and Form 16, and QBCC Home Warranty Insurance. |
| 36 m² freestanding double, new slab | about $21,800 | Everything above plus the concrete slab poured to suit. |
Single carports, attached designs, and different roof types all change the number. We price yours after a site visit.
For context, the researched market band for a built double carport is $20,000 to $30,000. A new-slab double from us lands at about $21,800, at the bottom of that band, with the engineering, certification and home warranty insurance already in it.
What drives the price
- Whether you already have a slab. The single biggest factor. A slab for a double carport is roughly $4,000 of the job.
- Single or double. Not quite double the price, because the footings and mobilisation do not double.
- Attached or freestanding. Attached means fixing and flashing into the house. Freestanding means all four posts carry the load.
- Roof type and pitch. Flat, gable or skillion, single skin or insulated.
- Site and access. Slope, rock, fill and tight access all add hours.
Approvals, engineering and insurance
A carport is a structure, so it needs engineering and a building approval. We include the engineering and Form 15, and the certifier and Form 16, in the quote. Contracts of $20,000 or more also carry QBCC Home Warranty Insurance, which is included as its own line so you can see it.
That is why our figure looks higher than a bare kit price. A kit is not a built carport, and the approval is not optional.
Common questions
Often yes, and it saves about $4,000. We check the slab thickness, condition and falls first, because a slab that is too thin cannot take the footings.
Usually one to two weeks on site. If a new slab is involved, add curing time before the frame goes up.
Sometimes, but it is a different approval and often a different structure. Tell us now if that is the plan and we will design for it.
Generally yes. Size, height and how close it sits to a boundary all matter. We sort that out before quoting.
Usually. Roof profile, pitch and Colorbond colour can generally be matched or complemented.
